Abstract

The author describes the introduction in 1994 and extension in 1999 of the French simplified share company - Societe par actions simplifee (SAS). He explains that the provisions are regarded as being of a largely contractual nature, based on an element of personal co-operation between its members, and are likely to be used for a number of different purposes.
