Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • ISLRev is fully Open Access. There are no article submission charges. It does not have article processing charges (APCs). All submissions must be accompanied by an abstract of no more than 300 words.

  • You promise warrant that the article is your original work and the submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • If it contains material which is someone else’s copyright, you promise that you have obtained the unrestricted permission of the copyright owner (please attach evidence of this) and that the material is clearly identified and acknowledged within the text. You also promise that the article does not, to the best of your knowledge, contain anything which is libellous, illegal, or infringes anyone’s copyright or other rights.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

    Word count
    Long article: Up to 10,000 words.
    Short article: Up to 6,000 words.
    Note, book review, and case note: Up to 2,000 words.

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • Style of submissions must be of academic standards and constant throughout the manuscripts. English spelling should be used.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
