2026-11-02

Amicus Curiae 8.1—edited by Maria Federica Moscati, one of the journals three Co-editors—has now been published. The issue features three Special Sections. The first is Part 2 of the Queer Judgments Project (QJP) Special Section guest-edited by Alex Powell, Yerram Behara & Joanne Stagg, featuring five articles exploring the QJP’s aims to ‘re-imagine, re-write and re-invent’ judgments ‘from queer and other complementing perspectives’. The second Special Section, edited by Maria Federica Moscati is a celebration of Carrie Menkel-Meadow, featuring ten contributions from colleagues, friends and students, opening with an interview in which Dr Moscati and Professor Menkel-Meadow discuss not only Carrie’s  academic life and career but also her passion for the arts. In the final Special Section, guest editor Marianna Iliadou has brought together five pieces on ‘Relations and Health: Interdisciplinary Reflections’ that examine the concept that ‘relations are fundamental to healthcare’.

In addition, the issue presents an article by Neemah Ahamed on ‘Sexual Harassment, Power and Barriers to Access to Justice: An Intersectional Analysis’; a note by mediator Andrew Sims, on ‘Reflections of a Mediator on Inheritance Mediation’; and the text of The Rt Hon Lady Wise’s Sir Henry Brooke Lecture 2026. In the Visual Law section, Chulwoo Lee, Marian Robert & Michael Palmer celebrate the work of Simon Roberts with a new translation of his seminal work Order and Dispute and Shuo NIE & Yang LIN offer a piece entitled ‘Making Authority Visible: Bodily Discipline and the Political Appropriation of the Visual Grammar of Judgment in Farewell My Concubine’. The issue closes with book reviews from Amy Kellan, Kfir Lapid-Mashall and Geoffrey Samuel.

As ever, the co-editor and contributors have been inspired by art—including dance, film and theatre–and the whole issue is available on the IALS Library website open access from the first day of publication.
