Abstract

The author outlines the aims and intended scope of the Human Rights Act 1998 in giving “further effect” to certain rights and freedoms guaranteed under the European Convention on Human Rights. The issues under consideration in this paper are whether the Act affects commercial arbitration and, if so, to what practical extent. Article by William Robinson, of law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, published in Amicus Curiae - Journal of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and its Society for Advanced Legal Studies. The Journal is produced by the Society for Advanced Legal Studies at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London.
