Abstract

The author considers the limited protection against discrimination in the European Human Rights Convention, reflecting on the situation in Europe during the era when the convention was first introduced, and goes on to look at the evolving culture of human rights, impact of EC law and Europe wide standards which inform the UK Human Rights Act 1998.
