Eduardo Vírgala (IALS Visiting Fellow; Full Professor of Constitutional Law,
University of the Basque Country, Spain) gives an overview of the history and development of the legal status of political parties and associated safeguards in Spain through the constitution, laws and relevant case law in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
